The Music Program at South Church has had an exceptional year under the leadership of our inimitable director, Thomas J. Filo. If you think about it, we've had an extraordinary breadth of musical experience over the last 9 months. We've had solo and ensemble performances from singers, violinists, violists, cellos, pianists, flutist, trumpet, drummers ... (Did I forget anybody?) The choir performed a choral masterwork (The Messiah), musical theater (The Pirates of Penzance), a shape-note song, R & B, a rock tune, early music, global music, toning ... and everything in between! We also had the incredible experience of premiering a new work for choir, soloists and drummers by our own Composer in Residence – Thomas J. Filo.
So ... what can we possibly do for our last Sunday? Come hear for yourself! We've got a towering piece of 20th century music by Randall Thompson. And – a Rock/Gospel medley with piano, bass & drum to bring down the roof.
Don't miss this! |
