Sacred Spirit Yoga Event – April 17

On April 17, 2:00-3:15 PM, Sacred Spirit, a new, non-profit yoga and healing arts center located on the South Church campus, presents a yoga and live music collaboration with master yoga teacher Franklin Shire and musician/composer

Experience the divine play of sound and yoga to reconnect you to the inner pulse of your body, breath, awareness and energy, and as always, experience the power and synergy of practicing contemplative yoga in community. Suitable for all fitness levels. Note! Light refreshments will be served afterwards.

Franklin Shire is a certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher whose practice is based on breath and body awareness as self awareness.

Trained by senior Kripalu teachers Brahmani Liebman and Jashoda Edmunds, he is honored to share this great lineage with others. Franklin has taught in Westchester at yoga studios, schools and health clubs. He has enjoyed teaching yoga at Purchase College Dance Conservatory, and as a volunteer at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility and Public Schools in South Bronx, NYC.

Singer-songwriter John Guth is a guitarist and composer as well as a producer and audio engineer. He has toured and/or recorded with many well known artists including Bob Gibson, Tom Paxton, Mimi Farina, Susanne Vega, Judy Collins, Red Grammer, Paul Winter, Galt MacDermot, Michael Wolff, Jordan Rudess, and Peter Allen. His music opens and closes the Grammy winning audio book production of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. He recorded, mixed and mastered and played guitar on Tom Chapin’s 2005 Grammy nominated CD Some Assembly Required.

A yoga practitioner for over 25 years, John composed, performed and produced the CD Rhythm of Stillness featuring and inspired by master yoga teacher, Tao Porchon-Lynch’s meditations.
